75 years ago (1927) Bruce Williford and Benja Harton sponsored a delightful surprise shower and picnic in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Speaker. About 25 young folks enjoyed the picnic supper and swimming party at a local pool. Mr. and Mrs. Speaker were presented with an electric grill and percolator by the hosts.

A man who served two terms as Conway's mayor was killed Tuesday afternoon in a head-on accident just east of the city limits on Highway 64.

Bill Wright, a former mayor of Conway, died Tuesday (Jan. 14, 2003) as the result of a vehicle accident. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Conway.
