ATKINS — St. Joseph’s junior teams opened the Atkins Junior Invitational on Thursday with two victories. The girls edged Greenbrier 20-18, while the boys downed Dover 43-27.

SHERWOOD — The St. Joseph basketball teams split a pair of games with Abundant Life on Friday night. A 3-pointer by Brooke Enderlin as time expired lifted the Lady Bulldogs to a 38-35 win. The St. Joseph boys suffered their first conference loss as they fell 48-43.

LAVACA — Mayflower finally got to open postseason play Friday night, but a valiant rally attempt fell short, as Lavaca had the final big play in a back-and-forth game and escaped with a 43-37 win in first-round action of the Class 3A state playoffs.
